Qingdao Metro Cash & Carry opens in Huangdao District with more than 17,000 kinds of commodities, 2000 of which imported from Europe, USA, Japan, & Korea. Most impressive are the wine, cheese, and deli meats.
Qingdao West Coast (Huangdao)
Xihai’an New Area (西海岸新区), also known as Huangdao District (黄岛区) is well known for its industrial zones, commercial ports, and of course Golden Sands Beach. All of which are now easily accessible via the sub-oceanic tunnel.
Qingdao West Coast (Huangdao) has developed into a key tourist destination for travel and business alike. Xihai’an is split into twelve sub-districts and eleven rural towns. Well known sub-districts include: KaiFaQu (开发区) and XueJiaDao (薛家岛). Qingdao’s Economic & Technology Development Zone (ETDZ) is located in KaiFaQu.
XueJiaDao, considered Qingdao’s West Coast, is known for its beaches. Since its inception in 2010, The Sino-German High-Tech Ecology Park has developed into a modern community covering almost 200 acres. Experts working at the park believe that combining industrial production with environmental protection will play an important role in the future direction of China’s economic development.
Qingdao West Coast Tourist Attractions
Golden Sand Beach: The largest beach in XueJiaDao offering beachcombers a playground as far as the eye can see. In 2015, the Qingdao International Beer Festival built a venue at Golden Sands Beach WanRen Square (万人广场). The Hilton Qingdao Golden Beach Resort offers panoramic views of XueJiaDao’s coastline. Silver Beach: Located just south of Golden Sand Beach, this rugged coastline offers visitors a more secluded area to relax.
Qingdao Districts Reorganized: Approved by the State Council, the Shandong Provincial government decided to adjust the administrative divisions of Shibei & Huangdao to include Sifang and Jiaonan, respectively.
Qingdao – Huangdao JiaoZhou Bay Tunnel reduces tolls to 20元 from 30元 on all passenger vehicles that hold 7 or less passengers in attempts to spur tourism and economic development in the Tri-Cities area.
Qingdao will host its first Inter City Music Festival at Golden Sands Beach in Huangdao from August 17th – 19th. The event lasts until August 19th, 2012.
Qingdao’s new “Super” hospital in Huangdao District’s Kaifaqu is the Sailing City’s most advanced with over 300 billion RMB in modern equipment.
Golden Beach Music Festival 2011 (15th-17th July) will be an opener for Tang Island Bay Walking Street, one of Huangdao’s new tourist.
Huangdao has started projects totaling 3.27 billion RMB to beef-up its tourism infrastructure on anticipated tourist traffic from the new tunnel and bridge.
More impressive is the sub-oceanic tunnel, China’s longest, that cuts the travel time from Qingdao’s Tuandao to Huangdao’s EDZ (Kaifaqu).
