Beer in a Bag & Babes on the Beach … What else do you need? With more than 700 Kilometers of coastline dotted with numerous beaches, Qingdao (青岛) is one of China’s premier summer vacation playgrounds.
Some of the most popular beaches in Qingdao include:
- Bathing Beach # 2 – the best in Qingdao Old Town near Badaguan.
- Bathing Beach #1 – always crowded, close to Zhongshan Park.
- Shilaoren Beach – located near the golf course in Laoshan District.
- Liuqinghe Beach – located at the entrance of Laoshan Scenic Area.
- Golden Sand Beach – home of the Qingdao Beer Festival.
- Bathing Beach #3 – closest to the Olympic Marina.
Qingdao’s total continental coast line is 730.64 kilometers and accounts for 25% of Shandong Province‘s total coastal area, not including Qingdao’s 69 islands. Including Qingdao’s 32 bays and 69 islands the total coastline consists of 862.64 kilometers. Qingdao’s tidal difference is 1.9 to 3.5 meters. There are two high and low tides in every lunar day which is 24 hours and 48 minutes long. Qingdao Beach Resorts have become abundant since hosting the Sailing Regattas of the 2008 Olympics.

Also called Zhanqiao Bathing Beach, this tourist trap is located in Qingdao’s old town near the Shinan District Train Station and Zhanqiao Pier.
Bathing Beach No. 3 offers a unique mix of beach and green grass lined pathways. A nice place to have a picnic while overlooking the sand and sea.
