Notes:
ShiLaoRen (石老人), Old Stone Man, is perhaps Qingdao’s most impressive tourist beach. The beach has a beautiful new boardwalk, tables, chairs, tents, ATVs, speed boats, jet skis, and showers. This is an ideal place to spend an afternoon or warm summer evening. If you are into boogie boarding this beach, on occasion, will provide large enough waves to give you a decent ride.
It was named after shape of the prominent rock outcropping located just of the ShiLaoRen Peninsula and is said to resemble an old fisherman waiting for his daughter to return from beneath the waves.
Getting there:
Bus : #104, #230, #301, #304, #311, #313,#317, #321, #362.
Taxi: 20-30 rmb from central Qingdao.
Indeed a very nice boardwalk. I think it’s about 40 km long in total, stretching from the tip of the peninsula in the old town area all the way to Shilaoren. There are information boards along the way that give you some more information about the area you’re in (Badaguan etc). Only one part near Maidao is not completed yet but apart from that it’s possible to bike, skate or run along the promenade. Also used by people for running in the morning.
