Qingdao’s Old Town is full of historical international architecture from previous occupations. Located to the north of Yushan Road, is the former site of the Japanese Middle School. This two-story building follows Japanese architecture with a plane layout shaped like “山” which means mountain is Chinese. The building, designed by Tadashi Mikami of Japan, is constructed of brick, wood, stone, and reinforced concrete. The classrooms are arranged at one side of the corridors with windows located on the other side. The yellow walls are decorated with corrugated patterns and topped with a red tile roof adorned with prominent gables. At present it is an administrative office building on the Ocean University of China, Qingdao campus.
