The former site of the Bismarck Barracks is located inside Qingdao Old Town’s Ocean University campus, near the east gate, on HongDao Road. The Bismarck Barracks (“10,000 Year Barracks”) are constructed of brick, Mount Lao granite, and steel in an “工” shaped plane layout. The Barracks have three stories above ground with a single level basement. The facade looks solemn and elegant with yellow walls rising above a solid granite base. The Qingdao Bismarck Barracks were under construction from 1900 to 1909 under the technical direction of Lothar Marquez, a German architect during the German Occupation.
The Barracks were built during the early German occupation of Qingdao to initially house German Troops. In 1945 it was home to the U.S. 22nd Marines. Currently it houses the ‘College of China Fisheries‘ and the ‘OUC Aquatic Museum‘ at Ocean University of China.
青岛俾斯麦兵营旧址又名“万年兵营”，兵营建筑采用“工”字形平面布局形式，为砖木钢混合结构。 主楼建筑地上三层， 地下一层。 建筑外形为石基、黄墙、瓦顶带外廊形式，局部墙角置隅石，形成凝重典雅的建筑立面形式，同时含有浓重的欧洲中世纪街市建筑的装饰格调。 该建筑在设计艺术、施工建造方面都具有较高的质量水准，可以成为德国建筑在青岛的典型作品之一。 该建筑自1900年开始监视，至1909年全部完工。 当时设计施工的 技术负责人是德国人洛塔尔.马尔克斯。 现为青岛市市级文物保护单位。
