Prinz Heinrich Beach Hotel – Qingdao Old Town

Qingdao’s first Beach Hotel, located across from famous Bathing Beach Number One, was formally called Prinz Heinrich Hotel. Constructed in 1907 and sometimes referred to as New World Hotel, it was the sailing city’s premier beach resort in the early 1900s.

The first Beach Hotel & Resort in Qingdao Old Town was formerly named Prinz Heinrich Hotel. The Medieval European building was constructed in 1907 and sets across from Bathing Beach Number One. The building, also referred to as New World Hotel, is three stories high with more than 30 rooms of various sizes and a total floor space of 5,694 square meters. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China it was used as an army barrack and later Huiquan Restaurant.

青岛海滨旅馆旧址建筑平面为“一”字形设计,砖木钢结构,主体共三层,层高约4米,内设大小30多个房间。总建筑面积为5694.29平方米,属欧洲中世纪田园式公共建筑的风格。建于1907年,有资料称其初始为亨利王子大酒店,又名新大陆旅馆。建国后曾作为部队用房,一度改为汇泉酒家。
