The Clipper 2011-12 Round the World Yacht Race gets underway on 31 July 2011 starting from Southampton, UK. Sailing more than 40,000 miles around the globe, it’s the world’s longest ocean race. Qingdao, China’s Sailing City, will host the fleet after the end of leg 5 from Singapore and send them off in grand fashion for the start of leg 6 to California.You can follow the Clipper 2011-12 race at www.clipperroundtheworld.com where you will be able to view yacht positions updated every three hours as well as dramatic sailing diaries, photos, and action videos. This year, you will also be able to pit your own skills against those of the crews by playing the online game.The Clipper 2011-12 race ports include: Southampton, Madeira, Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town, Geraldton, WA, New Zealand, Gold Coast, Singapore, Qingdao, California, Panama, New York, Nova Scotia, Derry-Londonderry, The Netherlands, and back home to Southampton.
The Clipper 2011-12 teams include: Edinburgh Inspiring Capital, CV2, Welcome to Yorkshire, Gold Coast Australia, Geraldton Western Australia, Singapore, De Lage Landen, Qingdao, Derry-Londonderry, and Visit Finland.
